The Person Of Interest Novel #1 Negotiations Have Broken Down

Don't be taken in by the various online stores offering this book for pre-order. No official announcement has been made regarding a Person of Interest novel.


Back in January of this year, Peter Watts published this blog post regarding the work he has been doing on a new Person of Interest novel.

Contract negotiations fell apart not long after this and Watts posted his version of events here.

It will be a crying shame if a book based on POI never sees the light of day

Peter Watts had an agreement with certain interested parties to keep quiet about the project, but given the plan for this book was leaked and the book is being offered to customers as a pre-order, Peter Watts felt he should speak up and set the record straight. He also wanted to clarify that he was not responsible for book being listed for sale on Amazon and other online bookstores. He also pointed out that contract issues were still being ironed out.

Setting the record straight was probably not a good idea, because days later Peter Watts' contract was dead in the water. Peter Watts was blamed for the leaks and the fact that the book was listed on various online bookstores. The author was adamant that he had stuck to the terms of his contract and for the life of me, (and as a writer myself), I don't see why any writer would sabotage himself in this way. Something else is going on here. Getting a book published is hard enough, so why would the book's author sabotage his contract.

It is my hope and the hope of many Person of Interest fans that this book and perhaps other books based on the series will see the light of day eventually. You only have to look at the success of other books that are based on a popular TV series. 24, The 100, The Walking Dead and many more.

If you happen to be surfing the Internet looking for Person of Interest merchandise like I have recently, do not be fooled by the link offering the Person of Interest, Novel #1 for pre-order. My example of one listing is below:

To be clear, these online bookstores are not trying to scam anyone. They honestly believe that there will be a Person of Interest novel coming out. It is also possible that this book is in the works and the author has been told to keep quiet about any negotiations. It possible his second blog post was written on the advice of his agent. Perhaps Bad Robot, Warner Bros and other interested parties want to keep this book a secret. For my sake and the millions of Person of Interest fans worldwide, I really hope that this is what's actually going on.

The Mayhem Twins - So awesome, everywhere they went, a mess was sure to follow

Given that the final episode of Person of Interest just went to air last week, I can imagine that many fans are searching the web for DVDs, T Shirts, and other merchandise. It is my intention to own as much Person of Interest memorabilia as possible, so I can certainly see how fans might be taken in by this listing on Amazon and many others at various online bookshops.

If I had to bet on the outcome of whether a Person of Interest book will be available one day, I would have to say that there is a pretty good chance we will see a Person of Interest book or perhaps a series of books. While this would be awesome, it would be even better if the series were to continue. Fans can help to convince other networks to pick up Person of Interest for a few more seasons. Given that the millions of fans are now mourning this show, it would be nice to hear some good news regarding the plans for this novel. It is my understanding that Peter Watts has already written the book, so I'm hoping this book will be released eventually. In the meantime, we can keep up the fight to get Person of Interest back on the air.

The story that Jonah Nolan, Greg Plageman, Denise The and the other wonderful Person of Interest writers were telling was cut horribly short thanks to the greed of the CBS network. Person Of Interest Voted Number One Two Weeks In A Row On Spoiler TV

Fans all over the world love this show. It has a cult following and based on issue that we face in real life today. Artificial Intelligence is coming, and Person of Interest deals with the pros and cons of this. TV shows that deal with the real issue are refreshing and thought provoking, and the last thing I and the fans of Person of Interest want is to watch mindless, repetitive TV that is so boring, you might as well turn off the telly and read a good book.

While it is hard to believe that a TV show this popular is ending in less than a week's time; unfortunately this is the awful truth.

In the last two weeks, Person of Interest is the number one show viewers chose to watch.

Here are this weeks most popular shows on Spoiler TV.

The Popularity score is based on a calculation of Page Views, Video Plays, Poll Votes, Comments, Google+1's, Facebook Likes and Tweets.

TIP: Remember if you want to see your show do better, make sure you share your shows content on Social Media (Facebook/Twitter/G+/Tumblr etc) and comment on articles/posts about your show.

Note: Shows in Green have moved up the table since last week. Shows with a "-" are new entries that were not in last weeks Top 20.

While it is clear that Person of Interest is loved by many fans, however the CBS network have made their decision based on how much money POI brings in. Because Warner Brothers own Person of Interest, CBS on make money from advertisers when the show airs on their network. Even so, if they had treated POI a lot better and promoted it well, this show would have attracted way more viewers. 

Bottom line, CBS got greedy and moved POI to Tuesday nights at 10 pm, which is a time-slot that TV shows have always struggled to rate well in. Networks can charge higher fees for advertising on Thursday nights. CBS's greed took over when their executive moved one of the shows they own to that time-slot. This backfired in the end, because the TV show they chose for Thursday night did not rate anywhere as well as Person of Interest.

Having said all of this above; Warner Brothers and Bad Robot are just as much to blame for the fact Person of Interest was cancelled. While the fans were fighting to get more episodes for Season 5 and a renewal for Season 6, there was no indication that WB or Bad Robot tried to fight for this show. Are they crazy? Person of Interest is the best show on TV to come along in more than 25 years.

So in closing, I implore Fox, Netflix, NBC, The CW, Hulu, Amazon or TNT to seriously consider picking up Person of Interest. Over 40,00 fans have signed a petition that is asking the other networks to take on this show and given POI's popularity, I and many other fans believe it would be well worth it to them to continue POI for a few more seasons.

With one more episode to go before this amazing series is over, it is extremely difficult to accept there will be no more Person of Interest. Several fans and I have no intention of giving up on the fight to get more seasons of POI or a reboot/spinoff. 

As they say; it ain't over until the fat lady sings; so keep fighting people and call the networks, cable channels, Netflix and the other streaming services.

Save Person Of Interest - Join The Fight Today!

Person of Interest began in 2011 and the fan base around the world for this cult show grew. There are literally tens of millions of fans who don't want to see this show end, (if not more than that), which is why I am calling on all the fans, worldwide who love POI to get behind this campaign and support the fight to save this show.

Show CBS that We Are Not Irrelevant

Person of Interest is relevant to what is occurring in today's society and the powers that be at CBS would be crazy to let this show go, however it's not really up to CBS after they decide to cancel POI, another network can pick it up and speculation has been going on for months that Netflix may well be interested in picking up POI for a Season 6. 

So having said all of this, let's get behind Netflix and urge them to consider taking Person of Interest away from CBS. POI is owned by Warner Bros, so surely Netflix can make a deal with the creators of this show to do a season six. While many fans are aware that this scenario is not likely, it is still worth fighting for and many fans involved in this fight will not give up until there is absolutely no hope.

Artificial intelligence or AI is a topic that is being discussed a lot in the news right now and has been the topic of conversation for the last few years now. Why CBS want to let such an organic idea slip away is beyond many fan's comprehension. But, we must remember it is all about making money for TV networks and they don't care whether the TV shows they air are total crap, as long as the viewers are tuning in. The thing is, many of us want to watch something intelligent and clever, we want TV shows that make us think. And Person of Interest does this.

Please Netflix, pick up Person Of Interest for Season Six

We all have our own reasons why we like this show, so get behind this fight and let's save POI.

Run a search on Netflix for Person of Interest. Netflix monitor these searches, so the more we search for POI, the more likely Netflix will realise just how popular this series is and may seriously consider picking it up.

Share this promotional video by one of the Person of Interest directors; Chris Fisher - this video will entice more viewers to the show and may give the show a better change of getting renewed. If CBS get the ratings they want with POI in Spring, it may get a renewal: Person of Interest Video

When Season five does air, as many fans as possible need to watch this show live. CBS need to see that just as many fans are still watching live. 

However, while Person of Interest is not being aired, many fans have suggested boycotting CBS all together and emailing CBS and telling them that we are doing so. 

We have do all we can do to get the message to the networks that this show is worth saving and that we will do what is necessary to save Person of Interest.

Ten Reasons Why Person Of Interest Deserves Two More Seasons

A few months ago, Michael Emerson who plays Finch on the cult series Person of Interest spoke out about the show. It is his belief that the CBS network will not be renewing Person of Interest for a sixth season.

Now; nothing official has been released and it would not be surprising if CBS made this decision as the series ratings did start to fail once Detective Carter was killed off. Many fans were very angry about this and some stopped watching.

So, here are ten reasons why this show must remain in production for at least another two seasons:

1... It is the best show on TV right now.

2... Person of Interest is an original concept with a very unique premise and letting it go would be a terrible mistake.

3... Fans will never see another show as good as this one in this lifetime. All copies of this show will pale in comparison.

4... The show-runners have a lot more story to tell and the fans want to see that.

5... Person of Interest is relevant. This show is a prediction of how our world could become and that to me and many fans is must see and important television.

6... It is a TV show that is entertaining and also makes you think outside the box.

7... There are way too many TV shows around today that are simply mindless entertainment and serve only as background noise for some viewers, simply as a cure for boredom. Person of Interest is the total opposite.

8...More and more TV watchers want shows that have them on the edge of their seats and also make them use their brains.

9...Millions of fans adore this show, all over the world. More than the TV bosses realize.

10...And last but not least. This is the best TV show to come along in a long, long time and I seriously doubt that we will ever see anything as good as Person of Interest again.

And just for good measure, I would like to throw in the fact that this show and its actors are winning polls all over the Internet. Not to mention that Person of Interest won the People's Choice Award for best crime show on TV.

When I look back over this list, it appears to me that there are far more reasons to keep Person of Interest around than there are to let it end in Season 5. Please don't let it happen Netflix. Take a chance on this show for Season 6.....You won't be sorry.

Is There Hope For Person Of Interest?

Could Netflix Pick Person Of Interest Up for Season Six?

In an article on MasterHerald by Kazem Sedighzadeh, it would seem as though the petition started last year by fans to save Person of Interest from the axe might be gaining some traction.

It would also seem that J J Abrams may have back tracked on his earlier statements that there were no plans to shop the show to another network. Abrams now says that he has always been open to the series continuing and it sounds as though he may well be in negotiations for a Season Six. This is purely speculation, but Abrams probably would not be able to discuss any negotiations being discussed, so all the fans can do now is keep the faith. Despite the looming end of the TV series, co-creator and director Jonathan Nolan is still very thankful for CBS for giving him and the producers the opportunity to do Season 5 of “Person of Interest.”

He said that it is also good for the fans because they will have the opportunity to see every plotline of “Person of Interest” coming to a wrap rather than leaving them with many unanswered questions.

Online petition gaining steam

Indicative however of the huge fan base of “Person of Interest,” the online petition seeking to extend the TV series that was started late last year has already gained steam at Change.org ahead of the show’s Season 5 premiere.

Apparently, the petition has already received over 20,500 signatures and is just 4,500 short for it to become 25,000. The petition is now being sent to several networks but fans are directing it mainly to Netflix, notes Movie News Guide.

According to the petition, it would be worth picking up “Person of Interest” for a possible Season 6 because aside from its huge fan base in America, it also has a huge following in other big global markets like China, Turkey, and several other countries.

Although J.J. Abrams, the Director of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” who is also one of the producers of “Person of Interest,” confirmed that Season 5 could be the show’s last, he recently recanted that he was already open to the idea of seeing the TV series continue in another network, cites the Parent Herald.

After seeing for himself that the online petition has gained more than enough steam, Abrams apparently realized the possibility of a new lease on life of “Person of Interest” for a Season 6. The petition has already been made known to Netflix, Warner Bros, NBC, Fox, The CW, and Hulu in the hopes of seeing the show continue in another network in the future.

Reports are also saying that Netflix is interested in picking up the show for its Season 6 but until a confirmation is made, everything is speculation at this time.

Given the above reports, it does seem that the fans of Person of Interest who have worked so hard petitioning various networks might be feeling a little more positive about their favourite show's future. As one member of a Person of Interest Facebook group recently said "It aint over till the fat lady sings.

And let's also remember that this show recently won a People's Choice Award for the best crime show category. Person of Interest has so much going for it and it is really sad that the CBS network cannot see this. Hopefully Netflix do and will pick it up for a sixth season.

More Evidence That Person Of Interest Should Be On TV For Years

2015 CHARACTER CUP WINNER: 

SAMANTHA "ROOT" GROVES 

It's been 63 polls (plus extras), but we finally have a winner. Congratulations to Samantha "Root" Groves of Person of Interest, who also got the most votes of any contestant and was the only contestant to receive over 2,000 votes in each round. This makes Root the first female to ever win the Character Cup. She joins Jack from LOST and Dean and Castiel from Supernatural in our Hall of Retired Winners. Congratulations to Person of Interest fans, Shameless fans, and all other fandoms for supporting their favorites and helping to make this a record-breaking Character Cup.  I hope you join us for the Favorite Show Contest that starts Monday.

Congratulations also go to Senko, for winning our prediction contest with 40 out of 63 correct predictions. You rock! All bragging rights go to you! Other top predictors were LOST Rocks Forever and ASN1. Great job. It's been fun comparing how different the contest turned out and where people thought it would go.

In our Vehicle Contest, the winners were the Impala from Supernatural in the Continuing Shows division and the Enterprise from Star Trek from the Ended Shows division. Thanks so much to everyone who participated either through voting, predicting, or commenting. This news is simply more proof that there are more Person of Interest fans out there than these TV networks realise. Never have I fought so hard to a show, like I am fighting for this show to have it's story told the way the creators intended. I want to see what is in their brain play out on my TV screen. And the TV Networks can do something about this, and it will benefit them greatly...they just do not know it yet.

Reasons Why Netflix Or Other Networks Should Pick Up Person Of Interest

Person of Interest is the most original and unique series to hit TV in many years. The premise is something that has never been done. The writing is excellent and the acting by Michael Emerson, Jim Cavaziel, and the rest of this wonderful cast is some of the best acting I have ever seen on a TV series. I am also sure that millions of other fans cannot be wrong.

Person of Interest has a cult following and CBS do not realise just how many fans this show has. In all fairness, CBS only only have the rights to broadcast this series and the only profit they make is from ratings, so their decision to cut a show that has been critically acclaimed for four seasons to half a season was stupid in many fan's opinions. However, they are a business and ratings are what drives a TV network.

The creators of this show did not see it ending after four and a half seasons, in fact one of the creators recently said that Person of Interest has been planned out to go for at least six full seasons, perhaps seven. The way this story has been told has been perfect in every way. The creators have solved certain mysteries and developed their characters at exactly the right speed. There is more than enough story there left to tell to keep fans interested for many seasons. When I first saw Season one, I knew the creators had enough there to tell a wonderful story for at least five seasons.

So here we are at Season five which is due to premiere on CBS in January, possibly November if we are lucky. We just have to hope that one of CBS's new shows tanks, which is a possibility. If this show was shown at a decent time, it would rate well and make the network who chooses to make a deal with the owners of this show a tidy profit. CBS ruined their great ratings of Person of Interest when they moved it to a 10 pm Tuesday timeslot. 

The millions of fans all over the world will subscribe to Netflix just to get this show, I believe this because many fans have told me this. I will move heaven and earth to get access to the US Netflix if they pick up POI and I can also guarantee that no fan of this show wants to see it end. This show is also popular in Australia and many fans will watch via Netflix because the Nine Network in Australia treat this show like shit! 

What the fans want is for the creators to tell the story as planned, and not rush it to finish up the show in fifteen episodes. It will ruin this show and Season five will not be relevant to this series. Not in my opinion and not in many fan's opinions.

In my opinion if Person of Interest ends after fifteen episodes in 2016, I will consider the Season Four finale to be the series end. The story left to tell can not be summed up in fifteen episodes, no matter how great the writing is.

I really hope that Netflix or another network that might be interested decide to pick up the rights to this series. Little do many people realise, but there are millions of fans who do not want to see it end this way, for many reasons and for the reasons outlined above.

The sad thing is, that this show is an original concept and idea, and many other writers and film creators will try to copy this series and make their own versions of artificial intelligence TV shows. Every new show that is similar to Person of Interest will suck. A lot of the fans feel as though there are many TV executives out there who have failed to see how great this show is, perhaps it is up to the fans to show the way.

Netflix; please consider what has been said here. I am certain there are a lot of fans campaigning TV networks to pick up Person of Interest.

We Love This Show and We Will Fight to the Death.
